Support Group for Children

Struggling with Your Parents' Divorce?

Are you struggling with sad feelings after your parent’s divorce? Or do you feel like it’s your fault that your parent’s divorced?

What is the "Divorce Care" group?

Details:

  • Date and Time: Classes will take place every Thursday evening from 6:30-8pm. Class will begin Thursday March 27th 2025 and end May 29th 2025.

  • Qualifiers: This group is for children who have been through a divorce or actively experiencing a divorce. This group is NOT for children experiencing their parents' going through a season of separation.

  • Cost: $400 for 10 Week Class. Payment plan is provided if needed which will include 3 installments of $133.

What to expect:

  • Active listening and being present as children share thoughts and experiences, express feelings, and ask questions.

  • Group discussion and interactive activities to get children to engage with one another regarding their experiences from divorce and build relationships within the group.

  • Members of the group get the chance to hear different viewpoints and gain insight on how to approach various scenarios.

What NOT to expect:

  • A "fix all" for your current situation or a guarantee of immediate results.

  • Forced sharing.

  • Complete confidentiality. While we strongly encourage that group members do not share what is said by others in session, there is no way to guarantee that level of confidentiality from the group.

About the Group Facilitator:

Hayley, a licensed professional counselor associate, has a passion for those who are undergoing or have experienced divorce. She comes from a divorced family herself and has even had to go to some support groups and counseling for it. “I’ve had good experiences with professionals and bad experiences. I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t” Hayley states. Her goal is to combine her experience with her clinical background to foster a group that not only processes the grief but builds confidence in who Christ says they are.

As the group facilitator, Hayley will help create a therapeutic space for participants to feel safe and supported while they work together to overcome challenges. She will encourage participation and make sure they feel heard and understood, help resolve conflicts as they come up, and promote understanding through exploring different perspectives and strategies.

Main Idea: What you think and feel matters. Now is the time to be confident in who you are in Christ and know how to appropriately and effectively use the voice He has given you. Which involves knowing the difference between feelings and truth, God’s truth.

Theme Verse:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
