Position Overview
We are a Christ-centered, biblically based nonprofit providing professional mental health counseling and speech therapy services to individuals and families in the Houston area. We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Receptionist / Front Office & Medical Billing Coordinator to support clinic operations and client care.
This part-time role (approximately 24 hours per week) is essential to the daily functioning of our practice and serves as the first point of contact for clients seeking care. The position offers potential for full-time employment as the organization grows.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, strong administrative skills, and a servant-hearted approach consistent with Christian values.
Schedule
Monday–Friday: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Occasional schedule adjustments may be required with advance notice when possible.
Key Responsibilities
Front Office & Reception

Welcome clients and families with professionalism, warmth, and compassion

Answer phones, emails, and inquiries in a timely manner

Schedule appointments for mental health and speech therapy services

Manage check-in/check-out, collect copays, and process payments

Maintain a calm, confidential, and respectful clinical environment
Administrative & Back Office Support

Maintain accurate client records in the electronic health record (EHR) system

Verify insurance eligibility and benefits

Support provider schedules and office coordination

Assist with filing, scanning, supplies, and general administrative tasks

Ensure HIPAA and confidentiality compliance
Medical Billing

Submit insurance claims for mental health and speech therapy services

Post insurance payments, adjustments, and patient payments

Follow up on denied or outstanding claims

Generate patient statements and respond to billing questions

Support timely reimbursement to sustain nonprofit operations
Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $18.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on experience and billing competency. Compensation may be reviewed as responsibilities expand or if the role transitions to full-time.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education preferred

Experience in a medical, therapy, mental health, or nonprofit office preferred

Medical billing, insurance verification, or EHR experience strongly preferred

Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills

Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity

Ability to work respectfully in a Christian, faith-based environment
