Newsletter April 2023

Thank you for taking the time to read our very first E-newsletter. We are excited to update you on our first few months of operation, our recent Grand Opening, and a few exciting upcoming events.

Grand opening

On Saturday April 22, 2023, we had the pleasure of hosting some great people from the community for our grand opening. After eating some snacks and home-made punch, we updated everyone on the work we had done so far and showed our offices to many friends and family. After this, we shared an update on where Genesis Family is now:

Our Work So Far

Up to the date of our grand opening, we had exactly 70 sessions in our new office and we are proud that so many people needing therapy or recovery coaching have been able to find us already. We are also thrilled that amongst those sessions, we have been able to award 5 people with a 6-month-long therapy scholarship through our 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are so grateful to many of you who have already helped fund 3 out of the 5 scholarships! We are still praying for finances to cover the other 2 scholarships and are so thankful for those that have helped contribute already.

If you feel it in your heart to give to this important mission, to provide biblically-based mental health help to those that cannot afford it, please scan the QR code on the top of this letter, or click this link to our donations page: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/fundraising/0040dc2a-2a49-4550-aa18-

Partnerships

During our Grand Opening, we also shared that we have started partnering with 3 different churches: LifePoint Church, The Harbor Church and Antioch Community Church. Right now, our partnership with each church looks slightly different, but we hope to provide a more concrete picture in our next newsletter.

In addition to churches, we have recently partnered with the organization Jane Around The World. This great initiative focuses on transformational living for young women whom have aged out of foster care with nowhere to live, or whom have hit various hardships leaving them homeless. We are

honored by this partnership in order to ensure that these young women get the mental health support they need, made available through our scholarship program.

Prayer

The final element of our Grand Opening was undoubtedly the most important: prayer. We did this by having different prayer topics related to Genesis Family on our walls throughout the office. People spread out, armed with post-its and pens, and wrote down their prayers, bible verses, and words of

encouragement. At the end we had over 100 post-its covering our walls, leaving our office literally covered in prayer.  We could not have been happier with how this event turned out.

Upcoming events:

Genesis Family at One Day Houston - 04/29/2023

This coming Saturday, April 29th, we have been invited to be present at the Risen Nation church stand where we are handing out flyers to different communities. In this cross-location event, 50.000 volunteers come together to help communities in the greater Houston area. We are excited to have been invited to be a part of this and meaningful event.

Genesis Family at Parent roundtable Antioch Community Church - 04/30/2023

This coming Sunday, April 30th, both Tanya and Rens will represent Genesis Family by presenting at a Parent Roundtable event. The topic covered will be gender identity and sexuality, an increasingly important topic to discuss in this day and age. If you are a parent in the area, we welcome you to join us from 4:30 – 6:00pm at St. Andrews Church in Pearland, TX.

Genesis Family Bible Forum - 05/21/2023

On May 21st, Genesis Family will host our very first Bible Forum. Since Genesis Family is a biblically-based mental health organization, we are dedicating to ensure that the guidance and help we provide is biblically sound and accurate.  Since we see various complicated and

unique issues in our therapy and recovery coaching rooms, we always want to keep biblical truth at the foundation of all the services we provide.

With the belief that “iron sharpens iron,” our first Bible Forum will include various leaders and community members in order to discuss the intricacies of delicate matters such as infidelity, marriage covenants, forgiveness and mercy.  The two guiding questions will include:

  • Is infidelity a biblically-correct reason for divorce?
  • Is pornography a biblically-accurate form of infidelity?

Every Christian with an interest for Biblical discussion is welcome, but we do require everyone to register beforehand so we can send you the upcoming topics in order for everyone to have done their homework.

We will host our first session on Sunday, May 21st from 2-4pm at our Genesis Family office;

1110 E NASA Pkwy, Suite 201, Houston, TX, 77058. Please register by sending an email to

info@genesis-family.com stating you would like to attend together with your name, phone number and email address.
