NewsLetter August 2023 

Thank you for taking the time to read our third bi-monthly E-newsletter. We are excited to update you on our growth over the last few months and some exciting things that are coming up. 

Growth 

We are feeling blessed by God in many ways, including the amount of individuals, couples and families He is entrusting to us as clients.  In July, we reached 128 sessions per month and we are continuing to grow. 

Next Phase developments Genesis Family 

We are excited to be transitioning from the founding phase of our organization to the development phase, where some exciting new changes await in the next 6 months: 

New Clinician 

Genesis Family is excited to hire another clinician in the coming months.  Due to the increase in demand for our services, our current clinicians’ case loads are almost at capacity, causing a need for another therapist or life coach.  Although we are advertising on multiple professional platforms, if you know of anyone who could be a great match, please have the applicant send their resume and cover letter to: info@genesisfamily.com. Play therapy corner 

We are excited to expand our services to include child-centered play therapy (CCPT) in our new therapeutic play corner!  CCPT is an evidenced-based modality that operates on the premise that children communicate and work through their emotions, behaviors, thoughts and fears through the language they know best: play.  Tanya is trained in providing this unique style of therapy, which allows us to help children as young as 4 years old, and we are excited to begin taking on more play therapy clients. 

In-House Church services for Addiction recovery 

We will also involve the launching of Genesis Family “In House Support” services for local churches. We are seeing multiple churches with the idea of having group sessions for people suffering with a plethora of addiction. However, we also see churches looking for expertise in this area. In the next few months, Rens, our Life and Addiction Recovery Coach will start offering two types of addiction recovery programs to churches, where we will offer group sessions on location for churches, led by Rens. 

The first program is focused on substance abuse (alcohol, drugs, etc.), and the second program is focused on behavioral addictions (sex & pornography, gambling, gaming, etc.). 

Scholarships 

Offering mental health support to those in need yet cannot financially afford it is one of things that excited us most at Genesis Family.  Currently, we have 9 scholarship clients and have one applicant on the waiting list.

This individual is a young woman who was adopted as a child, however still was not raised in the best of households.  After leaving her home at 16, she got involved with the ‘wrong crowd’ and began using drugs, ultimately leading her down a road of increased hardship.  Eventually, she found herself in a rehab facility that changed her life in more ways than one, because it was there that she entered into a personal relationship with Jesus.  Years later, this brave young woman is now married with children and seeking therapy in order to strengthen her marriage and create a stable environment to raise a family, whilst breaking toxic cycles of her past.​

Upgraded License 

Finally, we are excited to congratulate Tanya on her upcoming upgrade from a marriage and family therapy associate (LMFT-Associate) to a fully licensed LMFT!  In September 2023, Tanya will have met the 3000-hour requirement by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council and begin to 

practice independently as an LMFT.  We are excited for the added value this brings to our team! 

Next Events 

Bible Forum 

We are excited to host our next Bible Forum in Q4, sometime during October or November.  We will keep everyone updated as details are

determined.
